Former prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Tureen Afroz, has been arrested by police.
She was held from her residence in Uttara’s West police station area around 11pm on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Division Police, Muhidul Islam confirmed the matter.
According to the police official, an attempted murder case was filed against Tureen Afroz at the Uttara West police station in March. The case was filed by a man who was shot and injured during the July mass uprising. He reportedly still requires medical treatment.
Tureen Afroz served as a prosecutor at the International Crimes Tribunal from 2013 to November 2019, during the trials of crimes against humanity committed in 1971.
