The government of Bangladesh is determined to establish the country as a global manufacturing hub by enhancing industrial capacity, attracting foreign investments, and implementing key policy reforms, Shafiqul Alam, chief adviser's press secretary, has said.

"Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus wants to increase investment and create employment at home and abroad. To this end, he is presenting Bangladesh to the whole world as a manufacturing hub," Shafiqul said at a press briefing in the Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday.

Shafiqul said Yunus's China visit is a very important visit for Bangladesh. "It will be a milestone visit. On the morning of [March] 28, there will be a meeting of Chinese President Xi Jinping with the chief adviser. This is very important. Our focus will be to talk to Chinese investors, Chinese manufacturing companies, Chinese energy companies, and the top companies in China."

He added that Yunus is presenting Bangladesh as a manufacturing hub to the whole world. "All the policies that need to be taken to develop it as a manufacturing hub are being taken. Work is being done to ensure that investors in the private sector do not face any problems here and that a one-stop service can be provided for everyone."

"In addition, all the other services, be it the NBR or central bank, can be implemented simultaneously. The main goal is to create a lot of jobs in Bangladesh. Taking Bangladesh's economic growth to a new scale, to a new height, there will be a focus throughout the visit," Shafiqul continued.

The press secretary said: "India and China are all friends of Bangladesh. The chief adviser says we want good relations with India. We want to increase economic cooperation."

He added that President Xi Jinping will hold a bilateral meeting with the chief adviser on March 28 during his visit to China. The main goal of this visit will be to attract investment.

In addition, the press secretary also said that there is a possibility of the chief adviser meeting with leaders and important people of different countries at the Boao Forum.

At the same time, he also said that the interim government does not know which companies Starlink is signing agreements with.

Shafiqul criticized the recent report from the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, which claimed incidents of communal violence in Bangladesh.

He emphasized the inaccuracies in the report and stated that corrections were not made despite repeated requests.

Shafiqul also highlighted the negative international impact of such reports, which wrongly portray Bangladesh as a country with religious intolerance.

He said the council's report for January-February did not show a single incident of communal violence.
