Various programs have been planned at the national level to observe Independence and National Day on March 26 with due dignity.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Monday, the day’s observance will commence with a 31-gun salute at dawn in Dhaka and across the country.
At sunrise, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will lay wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.
Following this, under the leadership of the adviser for Liberation War Affairs, family members of Birshreshthas, wounded freedom fighters and other valiant freedom fighters will pay tribute by offering floral wreaths.
Foreign diplomats, various political and social organizations and people from all walks of life will also place wreaths at the memorial to honor the martyred freedom fighters.
Additionally, floral tributes will be offered at district and upazila-level memorials.
The national flag will be hoisted at all divisional, district and upazila offices, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem, student assemblies and parades at educational institutions.
The national flag will also be raised at all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings at sunrise, while easily visible buildings in Dhaka will display the flag.
Key buildings and structures will be illuminated, except on the night of March 25, in remembrance of the genocide.
Major roads and intersections in Dhaka and other cities will be decorated with national and other relevant flags.
The day has been declared a public holiday.
On this occasion, the president and the chief adviser will issue formal messages.
