The Police Headquarters has issued a safety advisory for passengers, transport owners, and drivers to ensure a safe and smooth Eid-ul-Fitr journey.

This advisory applies to buses, launches, speedboats, trains, and other public transport.

"We urge all passengers, owners, and drivers to strictly follow these safety guidelines," the statement said.

In case of emergencies, passengers can contact Police Headquarters at 01320001300 or 01320001299. Highway Police can be reached at 01320182598, Railway Police at 01320177598, and Naval Police at 01320169598.

For emergencies requiring the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), passengers can call 01777720029 or contact their local District Police or Police Station.

Passengers should plan their journeys and allow sufficient time. Safety should be a priority for themselves and their families while traveling. Drivers should not be pressured to speed up. Risky travel, such as riding on the roof of buses or in goods vehicles, should be avoided.

Pedestrians must use zebra crossings or footbridges when crossing roads. If needed, police assistance should be sought. Food and drinks from strangers should not be accepted.

Bus owners must ensure that only trained, healthy, and experienced drivers operate vehicles. Drivers should follow traffic rules and avoid reckless overtaking. Unfit vehicles should not be allowed on the roads. Bus drivers must maintain safe speed limits and avoid reckless overtaking. They should not drive when tired or unwell. Necessary documents, including a valid driving license, must always be carried. No extra passengers should be picked up beyond capacity.

Passengers traveling by waterway, including launches, steamers, and speedboats, should not board overloaded boats or travel on the roof.

Traveling in stormy weather should be avoided. During a storm, passengers should remain in place and avoid panicking. Wearing a life jacket while traveling on a speedboat is essential.

Launch, steamer, and speedboat owners must ensure that vessels have qualified masters and drivers. Operations should be halted in adverse weather conditions. Overcrowding should be prevented by restricting access to master bridges. Sufficient lifebuoys should be kept on board. Vessel drivers must check weather forecasts before departure. Goods should not be placed in passenger seating areas. A sufficient number of life jackets and buoys must be available. In case of storm risk, vessels should be moved to a safe location or kept on shore. A mobile phone and radio should always be on board for weather updates. Fire pumps and firefighting equipment must be in working order. To assist in identifying accident-hit vessels, buoys with 100-150 ft ropes should be carried.

Train passengers should avoid traveling on the roof, buffer, steps, or engine. Caution should be exercised to prevent incidents like stone-throwing. Personal belongings must be kept secure. Passengers should always travel with a valid ticket.

By following these safety measures, everyone can enjoy a safe and peaceful Eid journey with their loved ones.
