The name "Zia Udyan" has been reinstated for the mausoleum of BNP’s founder and former President Ziaur Rahman, located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.

A recent notification issued by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works announced this decision, as reported by the online news portal Bangla Tribune.

According to the notification, signed by Joint Secretary Naila Ahmed of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, the decision was made in accordance with Clause 12.3 of the Cabinet Division’s Advisory Council meeting.

As per this directive, the previously renamed "Chandrima Udyan" in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, has now been reinstated as "Zia Udyan".

Previously, in 1996, following the assumption of power by the Awami League government, the name "Zia Udyan" was changed to "Chandrima Udyan".

The reinstatement of the original name was decided upon during a meeting of the Advisory Council of the Interim Government.

One of Dhaka’s notable landmarks, Zia Udyan, spans 74 acres of land adjacent to the National Parliament House.

The mausoleum complex, built around the final resting place of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman, attracts a large number of visitors daily, who come with their families for sightseeing and pilgrimage.
