A female garment worker has died in a road accident at the Chairman Bari U-turn Incoming in Banani, Dhaka.
Following the incident, garment workers have blocked the roads, leading to severe traffic congestion in Banani and nearby areas.
The Traffic Gulshan Division confirmed the incident on their Facebook page on Monday.
Protesters have blocked the road, carrying the coffin of the deceased in Banani.
According to the post, the accident occurred around 6am on Monday, resulting in the death of a woman. The specific vehicle involved in the accident has not yet been confirmed. Authorities, including the police, are investigating the cause and working to restore normal traffic flow.
In response, garment workers have staged a protest by blocking both incoming and outgoing lanes, causing significant disruption. They have also stopped vehicles from moving on the elevated expressway.
To address the situation, police are on-site trying to manage the protest. Diversions have been put in place at Banani-Kakoli Crossing and Amtali in Mohakhali to ease traffic. Incoming and outgoing traffic has been rerouted through Gulshan-2, Gulshan-1, and Amtali.
