Jamaat-e-Islami held a protest march in the capital, demanding the preservation of the sanctity of Ramadan and the control of commodity prices.
On Friday, after the Jummah prayers, the Dhaka Metropolitan North and South committees organized this protest march at Mirpur 1.
The Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan North, Mohammad Selim Uddin, said that effective measures must be taken to shut down hotels and restaurants during the daytime, as well as to prevent all forms of instability, obscenity, and shamelessness. Above all, strict and effective measures must be taken to maintain the country's law and order situation.
The gathering was conducted by Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Secretary, Dr Muhammad Rezaul Karim. Also present at the gathering were Central Majlis-e-Shura members Hemayet Hossain and Maulana Muhibullah, Dhaka Metropolitan North's Publicity and Media Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Sarkar, Metropolitan Executive Council members Nasir Uddin, Shahidullah, Hedayet Ullah, Shah Alam Tuhin, Professor Anwarul Haque, among others.
After the gathering, a protest march, led by Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, paraded through various important streets of the city and concluded with a brief assembly under the Kazipara Metro Rail.
In the protest march of Dhaka Metropolitan South, held at the North Gate area of Baitul Mukarram, Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Secretary Shafiqul Islam Masud, and other leaders participated.
