The Sagardari Express, operating on the Rajshahi-Khulna route, left two of its coaches behind while in motion on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 6:20am, shortly after the train departed from Rajshahi Railway Station.
The two coaches detached near Horiyan Station and rolled down to Belpukur.
Fortunately, no passengers were aboard the detached coaches.
At around 6:30am, the Titumir Express departed from Rajshahi and later stopped at Horiyan Station. Its engine was then used to retrieve the detached coaches of the Sagardari Express and bring them back to Horiyan.
During this time, the Madhumati and Bonolota Express trains continued their journeys to Dhaka as scheduled. The Titumir Express eventually resumed its trip toward Chilahati at 8am.
"The train has been stuck at Horiyan Station for over an hour. It was already delayed by 15 minutes when leaving Rajshahi and was moving slowly before coming to a complete stop here," said Arman Ali, a Titumir Express passenger.
Another passenger, Robin, expressed frustration over the delay: "Our train was held at Horiyan while Madhumati and Bonolota Express passed through. I need to reach Joypurhat for a coaching class at 10am. If I don’t get there on time, my students will be left waiting. This is really inconvenient."
Horiyan Station Master Monirul Islam confirmed the incident, and said: "The detached coaches were empty, and the Sagardari Express has already reached Khulna. While Titumir Express faced some delays, train operations remain normal."
