A total of 1,308 people have been arrested across Bangladesh in the ongoing Operation Devil Hunt, which began in Dhaka and nationwide.
The arrests were made from Saturday night to Sunday, Additional Inspector General of Police (Media) Inamul Haque Sagar confirmed.
He said 1,308 people were arrested in the operation, including 274 by metropolitan police and 1,034 by different range police.
Operation Devil Hunt is a special operation launched on Saturday across the country.
The operation follows an attack on students and the public in Gazipur on Friday, allegedly led by leaders and workers of the Awami League, the party overthrown in the student-led July uprising.
Several people were injured in the attack, and law and order deteriorated.
Following the incident, a meeting was held with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, law enforcement, and other security agencies to strengthen the overall security situation in the country.
As part of this initiative, Operation Devil Hunt was launched on Saturday.
