The perpetrators involved in the attack on students and the public in Gazipur will face the maximum punishment, according to Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He made the statement while visiting the injured at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday.
The home affairs adviser said: "Those responsible for the attack on students and the public will be brought to justice, and steps will be taken to ensure they receive the maximum punishment."
Earlier, he visited the hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured students. He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sajjat Ali.
At around 10:15am, they visited the injured at Ward 617 on the 6th floor of the Orthopaedic and Burn & Plastic Surgery units at DMCH.
After meeting the victims, they left the hospital at 10:45am. Brigadier General Asaduzzaman Khan, director of DMCH, was also present at the time.
