Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on Wednesday expressed hope that Interpol will soon issue a red notice against those for whom the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued arrest warrants due to their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the July uprising.
"I believe that Interpol will soon issue the red notice as it is currently processing our application," he said while responding to a question regarding the progress of Interpol’s issuance of red notices against more than 100 criminals wanted by the ICT.
He was speaking after attending a views-exchange meeting with River Police personnel at their headquarters.
Baharul said once Interpol issues the red notices, it will place an international responsibility on relevant countries to arrest the fugitives.
