The trial of the BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) massacre case will begin on Thursday inside a temporary court in the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification in this regard.
The notification said that for conducting the trial of the accused involved in the BDR killings at the BDR headquarters in Pilkhana, an old building near Baksibazar Government Alia Madrasa and the Dhaka Central Jail has been used as a temporary court.
However, during the student protests in July-August, the court building was damaged, and subsequently, the trial could not be conducted due to obstruction from students.
The notification further said that the transportation and security of the accused had become nearly impossible.
Since the accused are currently held in the Keraniganj Central Jail, holding the trial in a temporary court inside the jail would resolve the transportation difficulties and ensure security.
