Dr C R Abrar, president of the human rights organization Odhikar, has called for immediate justice for all incidents of killings and repression of Bangladeshis, including the infamous murder of Felani by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
"We demand justice for all killings and tortures in border areas, perpetrated by India, and an immediate end to these heinous acts," he said during a rally organized by Odhikar at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital on Tuesday.
Dr Abrar also called for a fair investigation into all killings and tortures of Bangladeshi citizens by BSF during the tenure of the deposed Awami League (AL) government.
He emphasized the need for an immediate, broad-based discussion with the Indian government to halt the killings and inhumane treatment of Bangladeshis by BSF.
Senior Researcher Taskin Fahmina revealed that, from 2009 to 2024, 588 Bangladeshis were killed along the border.
"We demand immediate trials for these killings," she urged.
Zonayed Saki highlighted the importance of maintaining dignified relations with India, stressing that Bangladesh's independence should never be compromised.
Nurul Islam, the father of Felani, who was brutally murdered and hung by Indian BSF, expressed his desire for an exemplary trial to prevent future occurrences of such atrocities.
"I want the trial of Felani's killing to set an example and prevent future brutal murders," he said.
