The name of the Chittagong Elevated Expressway has been changed to honour Wasim Akram, who was martyred in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Previously, it was named after the late mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, who was also the president of the Metropolitan Awami League.
The project was inaugurated by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina on November 14, 2023.
However, full traffic movement on the flyover had not yet begun at that time. Now, with the flyover fully prepared, toll collection will officially begin on Friday.
The toll collection process will be inaugurated at the Patenga end of the expressway by the Adviser of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Adilur Rahman Khan.
