Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee and general secretary of the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation, said Islami Chhatra Shibir was a significant ally in the 2024 uprising.
Speaking as a special guest at the Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Members' Conference 2024 on Tuesday, he said: "Shibir was directly and indirectly involved in the movement and played a vital role in the struggle."
In his address, Sarjis Alam saluted his fellow revolutionaries, saying: "To my comrades who stood by me in the 2024 movement, revolutionary greetings. Just as we sat together and planned in the past, we will move forward together in the future."
He further added: "Anyone who becomes an obstacle to our progress, like Sheikh Hasina, will be resisted collectively."
As a prominent organizer of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Sarjis Alam criticized Sheikh Hasina's actions over the past 16 years.
He said: "Sheikh Hasina targeted anyone she perceived as a potential threat, branding them with various labels and engaging in blame games. Many innocent individuals, including Islamic scholars, were subjected to imprisonment, attacks, lawsuits, and even murder simply because she saw them as threats."
