The Ministry of Finance has announced a significant increase in the allowance for post-graduate trainee doctors, raising it by 30%. The new stipend has been set at Tk35,000, effective from July 1, 2025.

Prior to that, starting from December 23, the allowance was increased from Tk25,000 to Tk30,000.

The announcement was made through two separate notifications signed by Syed Ali Bin Hassan, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Finance, on Monday.

According to the notification for institutions affiliated with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), the monthly stipend for both resident and non-resident trainees—whether private or unpaid—has been raised by 20%, from Tk25,000 to Tk30,000. This change came into effect on December 23.

Additionally, a separate notification stated that the same increase applies to unpaid trainees who have passed the first part of the Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) examination under the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS).
