Following the fire incident at the Bangladesh Secretariat, Nurul Haque Nur, president of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, said that the incident has highlighted critical issues.
He emphasized that the way important government files are handled using analog methods is not appropriate.
"These files should be digitized so that the documents could be preserved in some way", he said.
He hopes the government will learn from this incident and digitize the documents, as well as modernize the fire service.
He also called for a swift and transparent investigation into the incident.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the burned building of the Secretariat on Thursday, Nur stated that the fire did not seem like a normal incident.
He said: "It could have been a planned event. A tragic incident like this happened at the Secretariat, and it needs to be investigated whether it was an accident or a man-made conspiracy."
He also mentioned that since the current government took office, there have been various efforts aimed at destabilizing and failing the government.
Although it is not yet clear whether the fire started from one place or multiple places, there are signs indicating that the fire originated from several areas.
He was accompanied by the party's General Secretary Rashed Khan and other leaders during the visit.
