The information about Sheikh Hasina being the subject of an Interpol red notice is incorrect.
This clarification was made on Sunday by Police Headquarters spokesperson AIG Enamul Haque Sagar to Samakal.
Earlier, Mohammad Tazul Islam, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, had informed journalists that a red notice had been issued against the Awami League president by Interpol.
However, AIG Enamul Haque Sagar later said: "A letter requesting a red notice was sent long ago, but it has not yet been implemented. We have no information regarding a red notice being issued against Sheikh Hasina."
Typically, when a red notice is issued, the individual’s details and photo are published on Interpol's website.
However, as of now, Sheikh Hasina's photo and name do not appear in the Bangladesh section of the Interpol website.
