BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who fell ill while paying tribute at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar, has returned to his Gulshan residence after receiving treatment at Savar Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Mirza Fakhrul returned home around 2pm on Monday, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed.
According to Shairul: “The secretary general is now stable and feeling much better. He will undergo some follow-up health check-ups soon.”
Earlier in the morning, Fakhrul fell ill shortly after paying homage to the martyrs at the National Martyrs’ Memorial. He sat down on the floor, appearing visibly unwell, as BNP leaders poured water over his head to provide relief.
The situation escalated when Fakhrul fell unconscious. BNP leaders immediately rushed him to Savar CMH for medical attention, where he was treated and later discharged.
The party has not provided details on what caused the sudden health scare.
