Fakhrul falls ill while paying respects at National Memorial

He has been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital in Savar

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir fell ill amidst a commotion while paying respects at the National Memorial on the occasion of the Victory Day in Savar.

On Monday around 10:30am, the BNP Secretary General paid homage to the martyred heroes at the National Memorial.

After offering his respects, Mirza Fakhrul was speaking with journalists. However, he suddenly fell ill and collapsed to the ground. Party members and supporters immediately rushed to take him to the hospital.

Shairul Kabir Khan, member of BNP's media wing, said that Mirza Fakhrul was speaking to journalists after paying respects to the martyrs when he suddenly fell ill. He was immediately taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Savar. 

Accompanying Mirza Fakhrul were Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, BNP Standing Committee Member Salauddin Ahmed, Abdus Salam, and Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel.

He also confirmed that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital in Savar.

Present at the scene were BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Dhaka District BNP General Secretary Nipun Roy, along with other leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated organizations.
