The High Court has suspended the decision to issue appointment letters to 6,531 candidates in the third phase for the position of assistant teacher at government primary schools.
A bench comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Mahmudur Raji issued the order on Tuesday after hearing the matter.
The court passed the order as the recruitment followed the quota system.
These 6,531 teachers were scheduled to receive their appointment letters on Wednesday.
Barristers Fayez Uddin Ahmed and Advocate Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan represented the petitioners in court, while Deputy Attorney General Nur Mohammad Azmi represented the state.
On October 31, the final results for the third phase of the recruitment of assistant teachers in the Dhaka and Chittagong divisions (excluding the three hill districts) were published, where 6,531 candidates passed.
The results were posted on the Directorate of Primary Education's website.
Earlier, on May 28, the High Court had suspended the recruitment process, including oral examinations, for six months for the districts in the Dhaka and Chittagong divisions (excluding the three hill districts).
Later, the Appellate Division dismissed the suspension order regarding the oral examination, allowing the Directorate of Primary Education to conduct it.
However, the court had also instructed an investigation into media allegations of question paper leaks during the written exam for this recruitment.
