Kader Siddique: Without Bhasani, there would be no Bangladesh

'Without his birth, there would not be any citizens of Bangladesh today'

Update : 17 Nov 2024, 11:40 AM

Bangabir Abdul Kader Siddique Bir Uttam, president of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, said that if Maulana Bhasani had not been born, there would not be any citizens of Bangladesh today.

"Without his birth, there would have been no Pakistan, and without Pakistan, there would be no Bangladesh.”

He made these comments on Sunday while speaking to journalists after paying homage at the grave of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani in Santosh, Tangail, on the occasion of Bhasani’s 48th death anniversary.

During the event, Kader Siddique said: “Recently, Bangladesh has undergone a significant transformation. However, if anyone tries to implement change by disregarding the past, they are living in a fool's paradise. They too will face consequences in due time. People had high hopes, but in the last three months, those expectations have not been met."

He added: "I urge those in power to consider the welfare of the people. Power is not eternal for anyone. It’s not permanent even for those in charge today. Therefore, think about the people of this country, respect them, and honor the past. Try to run the state by properly acknowledging those who have contributed to this nation.”

He further said: “The people of this country want democracy and the right to vote. The primary reason for Sheikh Hasina's disgraceful downfall is her failure to respect people’s voting rights, and this is the result. If people are deprived of their voting rights for a long time, the current rulers will not fare well either. This is my belief.”
