Former deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Mirpur Division Jasim Uddin has been arrested in connection with a murder case filed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
He was detained in Rangpur, according to Tribunal Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman, who confirmed the news on Wednesday.
Noman said that Jasim, accused of involvement in the July-August massacre, would be produced before the tribunal, marking the first time an individual has been brought to the tribunal over this incident.
On August 13, a presidential order reassigned Jasim Uddin to the office of the DIG of Rangpur Range, per a notice signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mahbur Rahman Sheikh.
Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam confirmed that Jasim was transported to Dhaka on Tuesday night following his arrest.
