Mamunul Haque, secretary general of Khelafat Majlis, said if former Awami League leaders and Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India, are not held accountable, the interim government will also have to answer for it.
He said: "The authoritarian ruler Hasina is conspiring from across the border, but the religious scholars are determined to counter all such conspiracies. To build a Bangladesh free from discrimination, a complete Islamic system must be established."
He made the comments on Saturday during a discussion organized by Khelafat Majlis at the Chaumuhani Railway Station in Noakhali.
Mamunul Haque said: "A just society cannot be built through man-made doctrines; Khelafat Majlis aims to establish a caliphate government through a complete Islamic revolution."
He further suggested that the interim government should lay out a roadmap to implement critical reforms within the state.
