A altercation took place in Mirpur on Sunday between fans of cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and his critics.
The incident unfolded around 3pm when Shakib's supporters gathered to protest for his inclusion in the South Africa series and to voice other demands.
As tensions escalated, members of the opposing faction launched an attack on the protesting fans, leading to a chaotic scene.
Police and military personnel were deployed to restore order, dispersing both groups and preventing further violence.
Prior to the clash, fans had staged a long march outside the stadium, demanding that Shakib be granted the opportunity to retire on home soil. However, the demonstration was interrupted by Shakib's critics, resulting in a physical confrontation.
Just days ago, Shakib Al Hasan boarded a flight from the United States to play his last Test match in Bangladesh.
His condition was that he would play on home soil only if he received adequate security, after which he intended to retire. However, after reaching Dubai, he went back.
Shakib's supporters have been vocal in their demand for him to play in Bangladesh, while his opponents have labeled him a "partner of the fascist regime," calling for him not to represent the national team.
