Gold price hits record high

This marks the highest price ever recorded for gold in the country

The gold prices in Bangladesh have reached a new record, with 22-carat gold increasing by Tk2,612 to Tk140,061 per bhori.

This marks the highest price ever recorded for gold in the country.

The new prices will come into effect on Sunday.

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) announced in a press release on Saturday.

It explained that gold prices had to be set due to higher refined gold costs in the local market.

Besides, 21-carat gold was hiked by Tk 2,507 to 133,704 a bhori (11.664 grams), 18-carat by Tk 2,146 to Tk 114,599, and gold of traditional method by Tk 1,831 to Tk 94,117 respectively.

Silver prices remain unchanged at Tk 2,100 per bhori for 22-carat silver.
