8 arrested over inciting RMG unrest

They were produced before a court

Joint forces have arrested eight people on charges of inciting unrest at garment factories in Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka.

They were presented in court after being arrested in a case on Tuesday.

They were detained in raids conducted in various areas of Ashulia on Monday.

The arrested are Dewan Abdul Hai, Md Zahidul Islam, Md Rabbi Mia, Md Mizanur Rahman, Zahidul, and Md Shukkur Ali, Rony, Shahaparan. 

Abu Bakar Siddiq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ashulia police station, said that eight people have been arrested and sent to court.

Police reported that a group has been attempting to destabilize the garment industry in Ashulia and Dhaka. 

This group has been inciting workers to harm the industry. Recently, they incited protesting workers to chant provocative slogans, damage factories, and burn vehicles, among other destructive activities.
