Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) and the Defence Journalist Association of Bangladesh (DJAB) have issued a strong condemnation of DJAB President Alamgir Hossain's forced resignation from the post of chief news editor of The Daily Shomoyer Alo.
In separate press releases on Friday, DJAB Office Secretary Ismail Hossain Imu and CRAB Office Secretary Kamal Hossain Talukdar expressed their protest.
They detailed that on the evening of September 17, a group conspired with outsiders to create a "mob situation" that led to Alamgir Hossain being coerced into resigning.
Recently, certain individuals within their office had been plotting to remove several senior staff members, including the acting editor and publisher.
This conspiracy culminated in a group of 30-40 outsiders entering the office under the guise of an Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, using threats and aggression to seize control.
During this confrontation, some insiders collaborated with the outsiders to falsely accuse Alamgir, effectively creating a hostage-like scenario that forced his resignation.
CRAB President Kamruzzaman Khan and General Secretary Sirajul Islam, along with other executive committee members, have condemned this forced dismissal.
DJAB General Secretary Ahmad Ullah and the executive committee also strongly protested the decision based on unfounded allegations.
The DJAB mentioned that Alamgir Hossain is a dedicated and professional journalist known for his integrity in military affairs and crime reporting, and they denounce the conspiracy against him. They call on relevant authorities to take appropriate action regarding this incident.
Alamgir Hossain himself expressed his shock and disappointment at the malicious conspiracy that has misrepresented him in light of the current circumstances in the country.
