A case has been filed against former army chief General (retd) Aziz Ahmed, his brothers Haris Ahmed and Tofail Ahmed Josef along with three others, for allegedly demanding extortion of Tk100 crore.
The chairman of Japan-Bangladesh Security Printing and Papers, Salim Prodhan, submitted the a CR case at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Magistrate Ali Haider.
The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and directed the CID to investigate and submit a report.
Other accused individuals include former inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed and former RAB-3 commander Shafi Ullah Bulbul.
According to the case statement, on September 7 and 24, 2019, Shafi Ullah Bulbul and others demanded a Range Rover and Tk100 crore in extortion from Salim’s Gulshan residence.
Later, on September 30, while Salim was flying to Thailand, he was forcibly removed from the plane, abducted, and taken to the RAB-1 office, where he was tortured and threatened with death if he did not comply with their demands.
He also claims that valuables worth Tk10 crore were taken from him during the incident.
