Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, on Tuesday said students did not request security from the government through notice.
"We did not come on a state visit, and we did not request security from the government through a notice,” he said in a post on his verified Facebook profile.
The post further reads: "We arrived as ordinary citizens to engage with students and the public. We seek the same level of security that any ordinary citizen would receive, nothing more. We are not aware of this notice and have not requested such security from the government."
The post comes following media reports that a request was made to the government for security for central coordinators during their divisional and district-level visits.
On Monday, an order signed by Additional DIG (Operations) Nasian Bayezid at the police headquarters stated that the central coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement had announced a schedule to visit divisional and district levels starting September 8.
In this context, it was requested to coordinate with the deputy commissioners and local coordinators in their respective areas to make necessary security arrangements for their visit.
