BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi paid a courtesy visit to veteran journalist Shafik Rehman.
This visit took place on Friday morning at Shafik Rehman's residence in New Eskaton, Dhaka.
During the visit, Rizvi exchanged views with Shafik Rehman and inquired about his health.
On August 18, veteran journalist Shafik Rehman returned to Bangladesh after six years in the United Kingdom.
He left the country in 2018 and has returned after six years.
On August 17, 2023, journalist Shafik Rehman, along with Mahmudur Rahman, the acting editor of the daily Amar Desh, and three others, was sentenced to seven years in prison in a case involving a conspiracy to abduct and murder Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
They were also fined Tk5,000 each, with an additional one-month prison sentence in case of non-payment.
Sajeeb Wazed Joy testified in the case on November 13, 2022. On August 3, 2015, a police officer filed the case at Paltan police station.
Shafik Rehman was arrested on April 16, 2016, in connection with this case. Later, he was released on bail and had to leave the country.
