Two former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque and Chowdhury Abdullah-Al-Mamun have been arrested by law enforcement agencies.
They were arrested from Uttara on Tuesday night.
This information was conveyed through a text message from the Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick also confirmed the matter.
They are both in DB custody, he added.
These two former police chiefs are defendants in multiple cases, including murder cases.
For the first time in recent history, a person of the rank of IGP has been arrested.
