ICT's social media accounts go dark as only Palak has passwords

The Facebook page and YouTube channel of the ICT Division have been closed since August 5

Update : 27 Aug 2024, 05:38 PM

The Facebook page and YouTube channel of the government's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division were active for the past 10 years. However, since the fall of the government, these channels have become inaccessible.

It has been reported that the Facebook page and YouTube channel of the ICT Division have been closed since August 5.

Only the former ICT State Minister, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, had the passwords to these accounts.

The official social media links of the ICT Division are listed on their website, but clicking on them leads to nothing.

Regarding this, ICT Division Secretary Md Samsul Arefin told the media that the former state minister managed the official social media accounts personally and did not leave behind the passwords. However, efforts are being made to recover the accounts.

According to a report from sources within the ICT Division, a streaming platform named Dhaka Live and a digital marketing team were responsible for managing the ICT Division’s social media.

Currently, the website and Facebook page of Dhaka Live are also down, and their headquarters are found to be locked.

ICT Adviser Nahid Islam has said that steps are being taken by the ministry to restore the official social media accounts of the ICT Division.

He mentioned: "As far as I know, control of the pages has been regained. Activities will resume from the pages soon."

It is noteworthy that on August 6, Zunaid Ahmed Palak was detained at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport. He was later shown as arrested on August 14 in connection with a murder case.
