A complaint has been filed with the investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal, accusing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 18 others of committing “mass murder” through alleged firing at a Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Dhaka’s Shapla Chattar in 2013.
The complaint was submitted on Tuesday by lawyer Gazi MH Tamim at the Dhanmondi office of the ICT investigation agency.
The complaint also lists Shahriar Kabir, president of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, historian Muntasir Mamun and Imran H Sarker, convener of the Ganajagaran Mancha, among the accused.
This marks the third complaint filed against Hasina for murder and genocide with the ICT investigation agency.
Earlier, on Monday, a complaint was filed against 27 people, including Hasina, Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon and Anwar Hossain Manju, in connection with the murder of a student named Alvi in Mirpur.
It also names the Awami League and its affiliates as parties to the complaint.
Before this, one complaint was filed on August 14 against Hasina on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
Supreme Court lawyer Gazi MH Tamim made the application on behalf of Md Bulbul Kabir, father of Arif Ahmed Siam, a student who succumbed to his injuries after being shot by police during the student movement in Savar on August 5.
