A murder case has been filed in Chittagong against 108 leaders and activists of the Awami League, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
An additional 100 to 150 unidentified individuals have also been accused in the case.
The case was lodged at Panchlaish police station on Sunday night, said Santosh Kumar Chakma, officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchlaish police station.
The OC said Jochna Begum, mother of Chhatra Dal leader Wasim Akram, who was killed during clash, filed the case.
The case names several high-profile figures alongside Sheikh Hasina, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Chittagong Metropoiltan Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin, and former MP Mohiuddin Bachchu.
The incident took place on July 16, when a violent clash erupted between Chhatra League members and students in the Muradpur area of Chittagong during the anti-quota protests.
The violence resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including Wasim Akram.
Wasim Akram, 22, was a student at Chittagong Government College and served as the joint convener of the college's Chhatra Dal branch.
A resident of Mehernama village in Pekua upazila, Cox's Bazar district, Akram was also a member of the convening committee of Pekua upazila Chhatra Dal.
