There have been significant changes in senior positions within the Bangladesh Police, with numerous officers being reassigned to new roles while others have been removed and attached to the Police headquarters and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The home ministry and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) issued separate notifications and orders on Tuesday regarding these changes.
Additional IGP and special branch of police chief Md Monirul Islam and new DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman have been sent into forced retirement.
Earlier, Monirul Islam was attached to the police headquarters.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range Md Abdul Baten have been retired.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Railway Police Md Shah Alam has been given the acting charge of SB chief.

In a reshuffle within the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), 28 deputy commissioners (DCs) and superintendents of police (SPs) from various districts have been transferred.
Additional IGP of the Police Headquarters Tawfique Mahbub Chowdhury has been appointed as the chief of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Mohammad Ali Mia from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been attached to the Police Headquarters.
Additional DIG of Police Anwar Hossain has been transferred to a specialized training center in Khagrachhari.
Furthermore, seven more officers with the rank of additional DIG have been reshuffled.
