Former Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik has apologized for his inappropriate behavior during a talk show where he allegedly referred to the host, Dipti Choudhury, as "child of a Razakar."
At the same time, he also offered a public apology.
Justice Manik apologized in writing to Supreme Court senior lawyer Fawzia Karim Feroze on Monday.
Earlier, a legal notice was sent to former Justice Manik, demanding a public apology for his inappropriate behavior.
The incident occurred during a discussion on the quota reform movement, where Justice Manik reportedly lost his temper and directed derogatory remarks towards the host.
The notice was issued on Sunday on behalf of Foundation for Law and Development (FLAD).
The notice not only demanded a public apology but also insisted that Justice Manik issue a written apology to Dipti Choudhury.
Fauzia Karim Feroze confirmed the issuance of the notice to the media on Monday.
The notice further warns that if Justice Manik fails to apologize both publicly and in writing, legal action will be taken against him.
The incident occurred during a recent talk show on a television channel, where Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik participated as a panelist.
In response to that notice, Justice Manik said that he is a patient of hypertension and diabetes. On the day of the talk show, he had to walk a long way to attend the program. As a result, his blood sugar dropped and his blood pressure increased, and he was also feeling extremely tired. Due to which he lost control over himself. He extremely apologized to the presenter for his behavior.
He sent this message to the lawyer on WhatsApp at 5:38pm informing his apology and also attached a two-page handwritten letter.
During the discussion on the quota reform movement, Justice Manik became agitated and verbally lashed out at Dipti Choudhury. His outbursts continued throughout the program, culminating in him calling her a "child of a Razakar" before leaving the studio. The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism.
