The interim government has decided to withdraw the criminal cases filed to suppress the mass movement of students and the public between July 1 and August 5 within the next three working days.
The decision was taken on Saturday at a meeting held at the Secretariat by Dr Asif Nazrul, adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, with officials from the Law and Justice Division.
This information was shared in a press release by the Ministry of Law. A total of five decisions were made during the meeting.
At the meeting it was also decided that those involved in the killings during the movement will be brought to justice swiftly.
The authorities will also take necessary steps to release the children and adolescents detained under false and harassing charges at the juvenile development centers within the next three working days.
The meeting also decided that false and harassing cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Cybersecurity Act will be withdrawn swiftly.
The officials also decided to launch a victim support hotline for those involved in false and harassing cases. Victims can call 16430 of the Law and Justice Division to file their report.
