Three people, including Koyra Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila Awami League President GM Mohsin Reza, were beaten to death by a mob in Khulna.
The other two deceased were identified as Reza's driver, Alamgir, and his personal assistant, Mofizul Islam.
The incident took place around 3pm on Monday, said Officer-in-Charge Md Mizanur Rahman of Koyra police station.
The violence escalated when Mohsin Reza fired seven rounds from his pistol as a procession approached his residence, injuring seven people.
In retaliation, the mob stormed his home, brutally beating him and his two associates before setting fire to the belongings in the house.
