A group of unidentified miscreants on Sunday torched an ambulance and a motorcycle parked inside the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital as protesters under the banner of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement took position in Shahbagh area.
The incident took place following a series of chase and counter-chase between the protesters and members of the Chhatra League and Jubo League took place at Shahbagh intersection.
The protesters chased away Awami League leaders and activists in the area around 11am.
During this time, Awami League leaders and activists were chanting slogans in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). However, they were chased away by the procession coming from Old Dhaka and went inside the hospital.

During the clash, several vehicles parked on the hospital premises were vandalized by miscreants. An ambulance and a motorcycle were set on fire.
Awami League leaders and workers responded by throwing bricks from inside the hospital.
Earlier in the morning, as protesters passed through Shahbag, they were attacked by leaders and workers of the Chhatra League. Later, the protesters regrouped and returned. No police were visible in the Shahbag area at that time.
In the Shahbag police station area, a police vehicle moved aside after seeing the approaching protesters.
