Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Wednesday said that the slain police personnel were engaged in ensuring the security of the people by the spirit of liberation war.
The perpetrators brutally killed three policemen while they were performing their duties, said the IGP questioning whether providing security for Bangladesh’s people is a crime.
He said these things while giving financial support to the families of three slain policemen who were mercilessly killed in a brutal attack by miscreants during nationwide unrest.
Describing the horrific incident of police killings during the protests, the IGP said: "Despite that, the morale of Bangladesh Police personnel remains unwavering. They are dedicated to ensuring the security of the country and its people. These perpetrators will be brought to book, no matter where they hide."
In a somber atmosphere, the IGP handed over condolence messages and donation money to the families of the slain policemen. The three martyred policemen are - PBI, Narayanganj police inspector (unarmed) Md Masud Parvez Bhuiyan, tourist police ASI (unarmed) Md Moktadir and Nayek Md Gias Uddin, protection department of DMP.
The IGP has also given financial assistance to the family of the slain Ansar member.
