Dhaka University (DU) Assistant Proctor Prof Abdul Muhith sustained injuries after an altercation with protesting students demanding reform of quota system in government jobs.
The university's proctorial team, led by Prof Muhith, was using a loudspeaker to ask people to vacate the campus around 4:40pm in front of the Central Shaheed Minar.
However, the protesters responded aggressively and drove the team away.
As the teachers were retreating, two protesters attacked them from behind, resulting in Prof Muhith, a faculty member of the pharmacy department, falling and injuring his leg.
He was subsequently taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
