Update : 16 Jul 2024, 03:38 PM

Chatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib has announced that the organization is formally joining university students' quota reform movement.

He made this announcement during a press conference on Tuesday morning following an attack on students across Bangladesh allegedly carried out by Chhatra League a day earlier.

Expressing solidarity, Rakib said July 15 will remain a dark chapter in Bangladesh's history. Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the opposition BNP, "expresses solidarity with the protesting students and commits to fighting in the streets at all times from today in the movement to abolish the quota system," he added.

"Chhatra Dal calls on all protesting students to step forward to oust the root source of the quota system, namely this illegitimate fascist government, and build a society based on equality, human dignity and social justice."
