More than a hundred people were injured in clashes allegedly between quota reform protesters and Dhaka University (DU) unit Chhatra League activists on Monday.
The clashes broke out after the students held a rally protesting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's remarks about their movement around 3pm.
The incidents were reported from DU’s Bijoy Ekattor Hall, VC Chattar, Nlkhet intersection, and the surrounding areas.
Students from Dhaka University and other universities and colleges across the country erupted in protest late on Sunday, sparked by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's criticism of the movement opposing the reinstatement of quotas in government jobs.
The students responding to a call from the Students Against Discrimination movement, took to the streets in a protest march at around 10:45pm.
Students from all dorms, including the women's halls, participated in the march.
Earlier in the afternoon, during a press conference at Ganabhaban regarding her visit to China, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina criticized those opposing quotas for freedom fighters' descendants.
