Two employees of Desco were injured in a fire at the sub-station of Dhaka Electronic Supply Company Limited (Desco) in Tejgaon of the capital on Saturday.
The incident took place at the Jahangir Gate sub-station of Cantonment.
The injured are Assistant Electrician Ismail and Lineman Ashiq.
The injured were first taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Hospital in Cantonment. Later they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from there.
The team leader of the Prime Minister's Office of the Satellite Fire Service confirmed the matter and said that the fire originated from the RMU (Switch Board) at the Jahangir Gate sub-station at 3:20pm.
On receiving the information, one unit of fire service and an air force unit brought the fire under control at 3:28pm.
However, it was completely extinguished at 3:40pm.

Fire at Purana Paltan building dousedDesco Assistant Electrician Ratan said that he was repairing the RMU board of this sub-station. At that time the power line was off. After the work was done, when he connected the power, the board caught fire due to a short circuit.
The fire left two Desco employees injured, he added.
He also said that the front part of their body was burnt due to fire. They were rescued and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
