Update : 15 Jun 2024, 02:32 PM

Some banks will remain open on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate the purchase of sacrificial animals, payment of salaries and allowances in garment factories and other transactions during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

Transactions can be done in some bank branches from 10am to 10pm.

The central bank has asked the banks to keep open the branches and sub-branches adjacent to the two city corporations of the capital, Chittagong and Natore's Singra due to cattle markets.

Besides, the central bank has asked to keep the banks open from Friday to Sunday in the industry areas to pay garment workers' wages, bonuses, and other allowances.

The bank branches in Dhaka metropolitans, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, and Narayanganj will be kept open on a limited scale to make payment of garment workers' wages, bonuses, and other allowances.

The central bank told banks to arrange adequate security in the bank branches with coordination of local administration.

Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Bangladesh on June 17.
