The cabinet has approved a proposal to extend the office timing of government, semi-government and autonomous organizations by one hour.
Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain said this at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Monday.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office at 10am with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
At the press briefing, the cabinet secretary said that the office timing of government, semi-government and autonomous organizations of the country is currently from 9am to 4pm.
However, the proposal has been approved by fixing the office timing from 9am to 5pm from the first working day after the Eid-ul-Azha holiday. Office holidays will remain on Fridays and Saturdays.
On August 22, 2022, the government set the office timing from 8am to 3pm for all government officers and from 9am to 4pm for all banks in a bid to save electricity amid the energy crisis.
Later on November 15 of the same year, the government rescheduled office hours from 9am to 4pm for all government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions.
