The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has decided to close unregistered online, web portals.
Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said this at the seminar on “Smart Bangladesh and mass media” in the meeting room of BTV Chittagong centre on Saturday morning.
The online web portals which have applied for registration will not be closed for the time being.
"Bangabandhu's daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced to build a developed, prosperous, smart Bangladesh by 2041 which was not announced without any reason. Such infrastructure and facilities have already been created in the country.”
Referring to the announcement of the creation of Digital Bangladesh in 2008, he said: "It seemed impossible to many at that time, but in 2019, people realized its reality during the Covid-19 period."
"It is possible to become a worthy citizen of smart Bangladesh only if you can create yourself with the combination of knowledge and technology,” said the senior secretary.
To encourage people, he emphasized creating more success stories in the media.
He said: 184 million mobile phones are used in the country. The number of internet users is 126 million.
