BNP leaders and activists are conspiring to turn the word “Baksal” into profanity, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said.
He said the Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (Baksal) was not just a party, it was a national coalition.
Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, made the comments at a press conference in Dhanmondi on Saturday.
“I want to tell Mirza Fakhrul that BNP founder Ziaur Rahman requested Bangabandhu to be a part of Baksal. I told him this twice and did not get any replies. Your real face gets exposed when you mess around unnecessarily,” he said.
About BNP's anti-India stance, the road transport and bridges minister said: "I saw in the media that BNP's anti-India stance will be reconsidered. They do not have any issues, they only bring something forward to show people that they still exist.”
Replying to a question about the United States not lifting the ban on RAB, the minister said: “I need to verify if the statement made by the prime minister's adviser to journalists was published correctly. He may request the US assistant secretary of state to withdraw it."
The road transport and bridges minister later expressed his opinion on journalists' access to Bangladesh Bank.
“I want to know which country's central bank can be freely accessed. Can the Federal Bank of India be accessed? Everything one might need is on websites. Why will you go in?,” he asked.
