Two people died of heatstroke in Dhaka amid the severity of the ongoing heatwave across the country.
A rickshaw puller Abdul Awal, 45, became unconscious while driving his vehicle and fell down on a road at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital area.
Locals found him in a state of seizure and rushed him to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 4pm Monday.
He was driving his rickshaw braving the capital’s extreme heatwave to earn a living for his family.
Suman Basak, sub-inspector of Shahbagh police station, confirmed the matter.
The SI also said that the rickshaw puller might have died of heatstroke due to intense heat.
His body was kept in the DMCH morgue.
On the other hand, an unidentified male vagabond died of heatstroke in Jatrabari early Monday.
Tapas Mandal, sub-inspector of Jatrabari police station, said that the unidentified person fell on the road due to a heatstroke in Dakhshin Sekhdi area of Jatrabari.
After receiving information, his body was recovered from the spot and sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy on Monday morning.
SI Tapas further said that the body of the deceased had numerous old cut marks of blade from neck to waist.
In the initial investigation, the police found that the youth was vagrant and intoxicated.
